My anxiety, my feeble hope, and my meager, meager inspiration
And I see the end of something coming
‘Round that bend, that corner, past that curve in the road
I want so to give up, to let go, to let be
After all, everything is inevitable
Anything I do makes no difference and matters absolutely
Everything is hopeless and full of ambition
I am now of a certain age, as they say
All things portend the end of me
And this world?
What of this world?
Is there something of this world that also is of a certain age?
Has there always been something of this world that is of a certain age
Whose end is coming, has come, is past?
You see, somewhere not so deep inside, I still think it has something to do with me
After all this time, I still take life personally
